I have been struggling to stop possums eating all the trees and shrubs along my fence line as soon as the new growth gets to fence height. Purchased and installed a Ping String starter kit a month ago and immediately installed along a test section of my fence. Since installing the possums have not touched the plants along the Ping String section. Very happy with the results and will now be expanding the system along my entire fence line. Also impressed with the quality of the product and speed of delivery.

My cat has been attacked by other cats twice in the past a few months, she was bitten very badly and got infection, I had to take her to the vet each time, costs were well over $500, not to mention that we had to flush her wound for two weeks to help her to heal, on top of that she was at risk of getting FIV. I looked online for solutions to keep her safe and at the same time to keep other cats out. Plus, I wanted to give her as much as freedom possible hence she loves to have her freedom. So I ruled out the confined netting area because it's limiting her freedom too much, and the fence top netting because that doesn't guarantee to keep other cats out. So I went for Sureguard fence top ping wire system. We ended up installing it by ourselves to save on cost, our garden is about 65 metre of boundary fence, part colorbond, part timber, to simplify it, we used the bird netting to block top of the gate, bought the screws from hardware shop. Total cost was $490 Sureguard including the energizer, plus small cost of screws and drillbit. Which is many times cheaper than the cat nets option. Brad from Sureguard has been wonderful helping me along the way, answered my questions, which made the whole installation smooth. The only thing you need to pay attention to is if there are any gaps between the ping wire and top or edge of fence, no other gaps around fence, no overhanging branches. My cat did get out once and I have since blocked the gap with the plastic gutter guard roll, and she hasn't been able to get out since. And no other cats have been able to come in to bother her either. I am very happy with Sureguard and the help I received from Brad. Highly recommend this product.

We have a large suburban property with extensive gardens- many of which are rose gardens with great variety including heirlooms. We have used a variety of Sureguard products over time with great success. In particular, the nocturnally timed fence top ping-string completely prevents access of possums from surrounding properties. Ground level ping-string does the same for our plant beds. Brush tail possums are particularly fond of new rose growth (i.e. in spring), and damage is completely prevented by the crow, of which we have 2, one new and one now 15 years old and going strong. With an appropriate range of sureguard products even a large, planted garden like ours can be completely protected.

Worked perfectly to allow us to get our trees to grow about the fence line where the possums were topping them. Extending it around the yard to allow screening shrubs to get established all around. Big fan after months of trying everything else.

We have had this system setup for about a month and although it took about a week, we have noticed a big drop in possum damage to our trees and shrubs. Much less evidence of their activity such as scats also. We have it just along the back fence and about 3 m up each side fence to limit them using the fence as a highway. Seems to work well and all our fruit trees and spinning gum have young leaves on them again. I like the feature to switch off during the day. Avoids the kids playing with it and unwanted shocks. The alarm works well to let you know during the day of shorts due to damage from animal activity. Many thanks again!

Product is amazing, we had a long running possum problem and could not get any plants to grow near the fence. Installed the Possum barrier and never saw a possum again and we finally have plants growing!!

The ping string is fantastic. I planted a new garden and our trees could not grow higher than the fence line due to the possums eating the new growth off the top of them. I tried a siren/strobe light and a few other things which did nothing, I was at my witts end until my landscaper suggested trying ping string, he heard great things from another client. I ordered online, had in a few days and installed it myself which was not too difficult for a novice like me. It did the trick and now my trees are thriving.

Bottom line, the possums have stopped eating my plants. I have only put the pingg string along one side of the fence. Once I do some tree pruning I'm going to extend around the whole perimeter. It works! And it's very simple to install. I don't have any hesitation in recommending Pingg String Fence top barrier.

I tried everything else from plastic spikes to conduit rollers but in the end I stumped up for the Pingg String since otherwise my new pergola was for nothing. I had built a Pergola (no roof) with wire runners acting as an arbor for grapevines but once the possum found it he'd strip the new growth every night and killed my grapevines. Now that I have the pingg string - and I have video proof of it working - I can plant grapevines again. Hopefully the battery has good longevity.

After installing a new courtyard planter bed and jasmine trellis in the inner city of Sydney, I spent a year trying an extensive variety of methods to deter the local ring rail possums from eating my new plants. Literally everything you can think of/Google to stop possums I tried. As keeping the jasmine wrapped in netting forever was not the solution I wanted (albeit effective) I started researching “electric fences”. This is when I found Ping-String and was intrigued to see if it would fix my problem (further incentive being the money back guarantee within 30 days on the Energizer). It has now been installed for almost 4 weeks and it has worked IMMEDIATELY. Could not recommend highly enough. For installation I needed assistance from a family member familiar with wiring/drilling into brick to install and generally understanding instruction booklets but he seemed to say it’s reasonably straightforward. Just wasn’t for me. When the energiser has some power issues though (during the very long rainy spell in Sydney) the troubleshooting guide was easy to interpret and I was able to change the setting easily to ‘overnight power on’ to save battery in the event of low sun days. I would suggest anyone at their wits end with possum destruction consider buying this for sure!

I bought a Sureguard system to protect a veggie garden from Possoms. Historically as soon as the garden is planted, possoms would be in there the next night. Since installing the system nothing in the veggie garden has been touched. I’m very pleased. Comments * It was easy to install. * Worked first time.

The product was well made and easy to install for the average handy person.

I had the previous version of the possum barrier and it was fantastic. The possums definitely avoided it and our grape vine finally grew. This new version is better still. Everything is much neater, visually more appealing, and easy to use. I like that there are now 4 live wires. Hopefully I can save our maple!

We have 2 Houdini escape artist cats. We have tried everything. Chicken Wire, perspex, netting and the rollers on top of the fence. Nothing works. We tried the Pingg string as a last resort. They got pingged once and ran under the bed in fright for 2 hours. Tried again, same thing. Then have never tried again. Won't even try to jump the fence now. Fantastic product.

It took longer to instal than I thought, with instructions a bit hard to find and a bit confusing. I changed my approach to installing it several times as I got into, and completed the task of installing it. The quality of the design and implementation of the equipment supplied seems high and I've had it operating for several days now. Possums have been our problem, walking along the fence top and eating the leaves of 3 particular trees (of the same type). They prevented these trees from successfully leafing since before last summer (now more than 18 months). This killed one of them, and the other two appear to be still alive, but only just. I can't say how successful the Pingg-String has been at keeping away possums, as these 2 remaining trees haven't attempted to grow leaves since having the Pingg-String installed. I continue to water them hoping to restore them to more vigour life. I am confident that the Pingg-String is effective, and hopefully we'll see the proof of that, if we can keep the trees alive.

I never normally leave reviews for products but i feel that this deserves my time to leave a positive review. And now i have had the system for quite i while i can confidently recommend the system. I originally purchased a pingg string system for my own backyard to protect my japanese maples from being destroyed by possums approximately 18 months ago. I had tried literally EVERYTHING prior to the pingg string system. Garlic sprays, Poss-off, sonic noise makers, fake owls, cats, lighting systems on sensors and even stalking the little buggers with a hose at night. Nothing worked and the possums were in such large numbers that they came very close to completely stripping my 15 year old Japanese maple of any new growth as well as my younger trees. Due to the damage that the possums caused my trees became quite distressed and weakened which allowed a borer to get into the main stems/branches (i've since had to cut these sections out). Even before a leaf could emerge from the buds, they were gone. I knew that if i didn't get the possums under control they would kill the trees. I installed the Pingg string system and on the first night the cunning little buggers found a way through, but i fixed up the gap and since then my trees have been able to fully recover. This is the first year that the the trees have been able to fully leaf-out without being grazed to within an inch of their life. I had to cut some branches back from the fence as they could get in through that route as well. So not only has it saved my beautiful Japanese maples, it has also stopped the possum droppings and urine that would be all over my decking area in the mornings. My dad had an issue with possums attacking his espaliered fruit trees across his back fence so i purchased another pingg string system and installed it for him 3 weeks ago. Has worked perfectly and the possums no longer get into his tress from the top of the fence. The guys at sureguard are very very helpful in answering questions prior to my initial purchase as i was unsure exactly what kit i needed, so thanks to them as well. I would absolutely recommend 100% the pingg string system and to not waste time, money and effort on other snake oil approaches. 10/10 for product and service, absolute blessing that i finally got the possum problem under control!!!
