How this Possum Control Barrier Works
The barrier has a number of fine wires that work by controlling possums traveling along fences, roof areas, etc. It will also stop possums passing through the barrier, either on the fence or at ground level. An electronic device called a Pingg-String Energizer puts a special electrical impulse on the barrier wires. This impulse feels like strong static electricity. Possums will quickly learn that touching the wires is unpleasant and will avoid repeating the experience. A person touching the wire feels little or nothing.
Note: 1/ This is not the same as a farm electric fence. It will not harm any birds, animals, possums or people. 2/ This barrier will not stop possums while in mid-flight. Possum must be walking or climbing.

Protect plants adjacent to a fence by placing this barrier on the top of your fence for a few meters either side of your plants. If necessary, install an optional ground barrier kit if possums come in at ground level. Or, keep possums totally out of your garden by placing this barrier around the full fence-line perimeter.
This barrier is also designed for attachment to buildings. If possums are using your roof as a thoroughfare, then install this barrier across the roof area to break their passage. If possums are reaching your roof across the household power cable then attach this barrier to the roof gutter to break their path.
On the fence, the barrier wires are supported by steel brackets. These are placed at up to 1.8m (6ft) apart. Create a barrier of any shape or configuration up to 120m (470ft) long. Sections which are separated are easily joined together. The barrier can also be attached to single and double gates while still allowing them to be opened.
On the ground, the barrier wires are supported by Fibreglass posts. These are placed between 0.4m - 1m apart depending on how curved you make the barrier.
The kit comes complete for all types of fencing (eg. timber, colourbond, etc) except the following, where additional materials should be purchased from a hardware store:
1/ masonry fences - purchase suitable masonry fixings for the brackets. 2/ pool fencing, weld mesh fencing, or brush wood fencing - these will require an additional timber support on which to secure the steel brackets.
